Discover beautiful Antibes. Your perfect French Riviera escape
Why Antibes is one of my favourite destinations on the Cote d’Azur
Beautiful Antibes, between Nice and Cannes, is a real highlight on the French Riviera. It has a wonderful blend of history, culture, plus natural beauty. I love just wandering the pretty cobblestone streets, where every corner reveals something new - from lovely boutiques to gorgeous galleries, and bustling markets to quaint cafés and hip bars that make you just want to sit and watch the world go by.
To me, Antibes has a percect balance of old-world charm and modern vibrancy. The ancient ramparts and the iconic Fort Carré surround the beautiful harbour, while the lively marina (just teeming with luxury yachts!) showcases the exclusive side of the Cote d’Azur.
Plus, if you love art, you'll find yourself in absolute heaven at the Picasso Museum, housed in the original Grimaldi Castle, where you can truly admire some of the Picasso's finest woks. Sigh ...
Whether you’re soaking up the sun on the sandy beaches, exploring the gardens of the Exflora Park, or indulging in the yummy local food at a seaside restaurant, Antibes promises an unforgettable experience. Its warm Mediterranean climate, coupled with the friendly local vibe, makes it the perfect spot for a relaxing holiday on the Riviera. Just ask anybody who's has been there!

Some of the best things to see in Antibes
Why you'll want to spend time on the French Riviera
Antibes is just brimming with attractions that will captivate any visitor. Here are some of my faves:
- Fort Carré: This 16th-century fort offers breathtaking panoramic views of the town and the Mediterranean Sea. A tour of Fort Carré is a step back in time and a feast for the eyes.
- Marche Provençal: A bustling market where you can really enjoy the vibrant local culture, every day except Monday. Fresh produce, cheeses, and spices abound. It's a foodie’s dream!
- Cap d’Antibes: The scenic peninsula that offers stunning coastal walks, lush greenery, and hidden coves. Perfect for a leisurely hike or a serene escape by the sea.
- Port Vauban: The largest marina in the Mediterranean, home to luxurious yachts and a lively atmosphere. It’s a great spot for a relaxing stroll or a meal with a view. When I was there last, there was even a popup bar on the waterfront with groovy music and a fun vibe.
From gorgeous landmarks to natural beauty and great markets, Antibes offers a variety of experiences that showcase the very best of the French Riviera.
Why visitors love Antibes
... and why you will too
One of the most beautiful features of Antibes is undoubtedly the Cap d’Antibes. This scenic peninsula is a haven for nature lovers and those looking for peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle.
Wander along the coastal paths, the azure waters of the Mediterranean stretching out before you and the scent of pine trees filling the air. Aaah! The famous Sentier du Littoral, also known as the Tire-Poil trail, offers incredible beauty at every turn. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxed hike, with secret coves and secluded beaches just waiting to be discovered.
And, of course, there is the Picasso Museum. Located in the majestic Grimaldi Castle, the museum is a tribute to the time Pablo Picasso spent in Antibes. Check out the remarkable collection of his works, including paintings, ceramics, and drawings that capture his artistic evolution.
The setting itself is just breathtaking, with the castle perched up high and overlooking the sea. As you explore the museum, you’ll be treated to not only the genius of Picasso but also sweeping views of the Mediterranean that are truly inspiring.
Every town in France has wonderful market and Antibes is no exception

Why I love Antibes: A personal recommendation
Antibes is just a lovely town to visit - or stay at - on the French Riviera
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Antibes, and I highly recommend that you consider visiting this lovely town. One of the things I love most it is its picturesque Old Town. Wandering through the narrow cobblestone streets, discovering sweet hidden courtyards, and browsing the charming shops and cafes is a genuine delight.
The coastal scenery in Antibes is simply breathtaking. You can relax on beaches, take a leisurely stroll along the Promenade Amiral de Grasse, or enjoy the panoramic views from the Cap d'Antibes. The stunning vistas never fail to impress.
I was also captivated by the town's rich cultural heritage. Visiting the Picasso Museum was a highlight. Seeing Picasso's artworks in the very place where he lived and worked was truly inspiring.
The historical Fort Carré and the impressive yachts at Port Vauban added to the town's unique character and charm. There's some serious money there!
Antibes offers a cool culinary scene, from casual beachside cafes to gourmet restaurants.
Enjoy deliciously fresh seafood, Provençal specialities, and local wines, all of which lend themselves to an exceptional dining experience.
The warmth and friendliness of the locals made my stay even more enjoyable. Their genuine hospitality and pride in their town were evident in every interaction, making me feel welcome and at home. In spite of the significant amount of tourists (escpecially during peak season) they remained warm ahd hospitable.
Antibes is a destination that offers something for everyone. But, in my usual rave, try not to go in peak season. It's becoming increasingly popular which means that your restaurant booking may have to wait until 10 pm ... April/May and September/October and even November are still lovely, and indeed not too hot either!
I loved my time there and believe you will too
